GEANT4 Simulation Of Fusion Neutron Passage
Through Heavy Water
This simulation was built to assist a researcher at Ohio University who wanted to check his MCNP simulation against a GEANT simulation. The GEANT simulation allows for user input of double differential cross sections to check the validity of the simulation against an accelerator experiment.
In this simulation, 14.03 MeV neutrons are incident on a 2.44 cm radius sphere of D20. The neutrons are allowed to scatter from the heavy water. Their trajectories and momenta are tracked as they pass through a 10x10x0.01 cm scoring volume placed 80 cm from the sphere, opposite the neutron origin. The code was written by modifying "exampleB1" which is included in the GEANT source code.
